As the last element of the Mátranovák 2030 development program, a logistics hall worth HUF 600 million will be built in Mátranovák, NE Hungary with the total development program worth HUF 6 billion. Alstom's Mátranovák site will provide one third of the Group's railway bogie manufacturing capacity, the rolling stock manufacturer company told MTI on Wednesday.
According to the information, the construction of the new logistics hall is justified by the increase in the site's capacity and a 40% increase in production volume, which requires the storage and logistical handling of larger quantities of raw materials, components and finished products.
Design work on the new 827-square-meter logistics hall has started, with construction work due to start in spring 2025, and the project will take a year to complete.
As part of the Mátranovák 2030 development plan, launched in 2022, the company has modernized its machinery: it has acquired new edge bending machines, increased the capacity of its cell for three-dimensional measurements, modernized its plasma cutting machine, installed around 60 new lifting and rotating devices and installed a new welding robot. The investment also included the installation of a number of modern container offices and meeting rooms.
Gáspár Balázs, CEO of the company's Hungarian operations, said in the statement that the development plan will significantly increase the site's production capacity by 2025, making it the largest Alstom bogie manufacturing site in Europe, and one third of Alstom's bogie production worldwide.
The bogies produced in Mátranovák will be used in Alstom's rolling stock throughout Europe. The company is also the largest employer in Nógrád County, currently providing a living for 720 highly skilled workers.
