The Budapest Stock Exchange's (BSE) share index, the BUX, closed down 1.91% on Friday at 54,197.71 points compared to last week's close. The total turnover of shares rose to HUF 48.596 billion from HUF 37.658 billion last week. All leading shares weakened.
BSE performance was mixed this week. The share index started with a decline, turnover remained low on Monday and trading did not pick up significantly afterwards. On Wednesday, there was a further decline, which on Thursday was close to minus 2%. Only on Friday did the BUX close with a relatively significant rise of 0.80%, and with a significant turnover compared to the previous day.
Equilor Investment analysts assessed the mixed performance of the previous days as a correction of last week's stock market records. According to Bence Józsa, only AutoWallis' share subscription program can be considered positive among the stock market news until Thursday's close. On Friday afternoon, Richter released a statement on studies showing the therapeutic efficacy of one of its own products in a new disease, after which it gained more than 4% in an hour.
Among the leading shares, Mol weakened the most, by 3.97%. It closed at HUF 2,660, with a weekly turnover of HUF 7.615 billion. OTP weakened by 1.53% with a total turnover of HUF 24.362 billion, closing Friday at HUF 18,695. Richter fell 0.85% to HUF 8,720, with a weekly turnover of HUF 12.259 billion. Magyar Telekom's share price fell the least among the leading shares, by 0.46%. It closed at HUF 429, with a total turnover of HUF 411.8 million. The BUMIX index of small and medium-sized shares weakened by 0.26%, or 11.32 points.
