Busch-Hungária Ltd. used its full production capacity in June, producing 5,037 tons of castings during the month, the Győr-based company, which is part of the German BPW Group, told the Hungarian state news agency MTI.
According to the information, this was the first time that production exceeded 5,000 tons in a month.
The company expects to produce approximately the same volume in the second half of the year.
Busch-Hungária Ltd. produced more than 23,000 tons of castings in the first six months of the year, which is an increase on last year's figure of 43,000 tons.
The release quotes Dávid Hegymegi, managing director of Busch-Hungária Ltd., as saying that the results were achieved through continuous technical improvements, investments to increase efficiency and precision, and the work of 320 employees.
In the investment period that ended last year, the company invested more than EUR 19 million in improvements that resulted in an increase of more than 30% in the melting capacity of the iron foundry last year, and increased the operational efficiency of the molding line to over 80%.
This year, a new long-term investment and development cycle has been launched, focusing on increasing efficiency and improving working conditions. A number of improvements are already underway to make the plant easier to work in: some activities have been robotized, the tooling is being upgraded, air quality is being improved and lighting is being modernized.
In addition to this, plant processes are being optimized in a number of areas and work is underway to prepare further high-value technological investments," Dávid Hegymegi added.
Last year, Busch-Hungária's turnover was almost EUR 66.5 million (HUF 26.4 billion), EUR 23.2 million (HUF 9.2 billion) more than in 2020. Last year, the company made a profit after tax of EUR 153,000 (HUF 60.8 million), compared with no profit in the previous year due to the cost of investments.
Busch-Hungária is Hungary's largest iron foundry and a leading player in the European iron foundry market, producing ductile iron castings for commercial vehicle manufacturers on 36,000 square meters at its headquarters in Győr. Its current product portfolio includes chassis components, wheel hubs, brake calipers and differential housings. The Győr-based company joined the BPW Group in Germany in 2007.
