A consortium led by Sole-Mizo Plc. is developing milk protein-based food and nutritional ingredients for special purposes with EU non-reimbursable funding of HUF 996.44 million.
In addition to Sole-Mizo, the consortium leader, Medifood Hungary Innovation Ltd. and the Hungarian Agricultural and Life Sciences University (MATE) are also participating in the project. The recently started research and development project will last three years.
“The project will build on the knowledge of Sole-Mizo Plc. in the field of milk protein production and development, the food science research capabilities of MATE and the knowledge of Medifood Hungary Innovation in the field of clinical nutrition to produce a special protein mixture based on MPI/MPC. Milk Protein Isolates/Milk Protein Concentrates (MPI/MPC) are protein preparations produced by the dairy industry and used in sports activities and medicine, among others. They are already produced in high quality and in large quantities at Sole-Mizo Plc.'s plant in Csorna," the company said in a statement.
The consortium will develop a labelling system and a certification mark to objectively and scientifically indicate the protein nutritional value of food products, protein preparations and foodstuffs containing protein and special nutritional products for medical purposes, which can be considered as protein sources, Sole-Mizo Plc.
