The Veszprém site of Continental Automotive Hungary Ltd., which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, has reached the one billion sensor production mark, the company told MTI.
The Hungarian subsidiary of the German automotive group said in a statement that thanks to the developments of the past decades, the Veszprém site, which is already a global player, develops, tests and manufactures various sensors for automotive safety systems, batteries and travel comfort for prestigious customers.
The Veszprém plant plays a key role in the development, testing and manufacturing of high-tech, future-proof products, they added.
Zoltán Dapsy, Managing Director of Continental's Veszprém site, was quoted as saying that the unit's production and manufacturing segment now includes digitalized and robotized production lines, significant research and development activities and a unique test track.
According to the statement, Continental Veszprém supplies products and develops solutions for almost all car manufacturers worldwide. Battery, chassis position and wheel speed sensors as well as engine and transmission sensors are produced at the site using innovative equipment and automated production lines in line with Industry 4.0 trends.
The Managing Director underlined that as the largest employer in Veszprém and the region, their goal is to continue to provide stable and sustainable jobs.
Continental Group is present in 12 locations in Hungary, including Budapest, Debrecen, Mako, Nyíregyháza, Szeged and Veszprém, where, according to the company's website, it has its own development center and the largest test track in Eastern Europe, with nearly 600 development engineers working on the development and testing of electronically controlled braking systems and components.
