Doktor24's revenue doubled last year, from HUF 6 billion in 2021 to HUF 12 billion in 2022, the private healthcare provider told MTI. Róbert Lancz, CEO of Doktor24, said that this year's plans include further growth of at least 30%.
The number of doctors and specialists working at Doktor24 has now reached 1,000, the number of patients treated at group level has doubled in the past two years, and the number of operations has tripled, from 3,000 to nearly 10,000 a year.
In September 2021, Doktor24 and UNION Vienna Insurance Group Zrt.'s joint subsidiary, Erste Privategészségügyi Hálózat Zrt. (EMH), acquired LIFE Egészségcentrum, the market-leading private healthcare provider in Székesfehérvár and the Central Transdanubian region. In January last year, the group acquired Da Vinci Egészségügyi Szolgáltató Kft. of Pécs, and in June MediTeam Zrt. Further developments are planned, with the aim of achieving nationwide coverage.
Róbert Lancz pointed out that the group has spent HUF 10 billion on acquisitions and service expansion in the last three years.
The private healthcare market in Hungary, which is expanding dynamically by up to 20% a year, has 7-8 major companies; the Primus Association, a professional association of the largest private providers, estimates the market size at around HUF 600 billion. While private providers used to focus on preventive, diagnostic and outpatient services, the largest ones now also have operating theaters and hospital wards. Doktor24, for example, opened its Buda-based central hospital, Multiklinika, in 2021, with 4 operating theatres and 35 hospital beds, following an investment of more than HUF 3 billion. The investment was mainly financed from own resources, with an additional HUF 278 million in grants. This year, the Multiklinika was expanded with an intensive care unit, which was also licensed to provide complex surgical services.
Róbert Lancz pointed out that according to Ipsos research at the end of last year, 83% of Hungarians had used private health services, and a recent EY study found that young people were the most frequent users of this form of care. The CEO noted that among the providers included in the Patient Friendly Project and Ipsos' representative survey conducted at the end of September last year, Doktor24 was the most satisfied with the 23 patient-friendly aspects of the service.
