As a first point of contact, E.ON helps young people gain a realistic picture of careers in the energy sector through experience-based career presentations and personal meetings. Participants in the dual training program then acquire both theoretical knowledge and practical skills with the help of experienced professionals.
"In dual training, we not only impart knowledge, but also build the future. E.ON's vocational trainers and their associated plants have been committed to dual training for many years, providing students with the foundations on which they can continue to build in the world of work. In my opinion, a high-quality supply of new talent is in the common interest of the industry, ensuring the future of the profession," Tamás Fliegh, master craftsman and vocational trainer at the Veszprém power grid plant, said.
In addition, university students are mentored by experienced E.ON professionals in finding and trying out the professional direction that interests them most. They can visit offices or sites in the field, such as network operations, strategy, planning, and plant management. After completing their dual university education, engineers can pursue careers as experts and managers.
"I started my career at E.ON in 2010 through the trainee program. At such a large multinational company, it was extremely important that I was able to learn about the company's operations and structure right from the start, while being supported by professionals who considered mentoring young people to be their true calling. The internship program and later my role as area manager provided me with essential foundations, from which I still benefit greatly as a manager today," according to Csaba Szabó, Head of Operations Coordination.
E.ON is actively shaping the future of vocational training by supporting both new recruits and experienced professionals. At the heart of this is the E.ON Technical Academy, where technical training is provided within the company as part of adult education, which is unique in the energy industry. The next milestone is the establishment of an accredited examination center, which will strengthen the academy's role in professional training. In addition to training, the program also creates a cohesive community for participants and supports lifelong learning, accompanying our colleagues throughout their entire careers.
The academy works with 15 vocational schools and 4 universities, including Széchenyi István University, Pannon University, the University of Pécs and Óbuda University. These collaborations ensure a continuous supply of professionals, up-to-date knowledge and development.
Vocational students receive statutory wages, SZÉP (cafeteria) cards and study scholarships, while university students also enjoy extra benefits in addition to their wages. E.ON helps students balance work and study with flexible working hours. Each year, 60 vocational students (electricians, central heating and gas fitters, high-voltage electrical engineers) and 16 electrical engineers and 2 mechanical engineers per year join the program.
The E.ON Hungária Group's more than 6,000 employees create a stable professional environment. Half of those working in the technical field have been with the company for at least 10 years, and the average length of employment is 15 years. In-depth professional knowledge, mentoring, and a people-centered approach are combined with an international background and career opportunities abroad.
