Automotive industry supplier Flex inaugurated a HUF 35 billion plant of 10,000 square meters in Zalaegerszeg, SW Hungary on Tuesday.
The Flex Zala Automotive Next Gen Mobility plant, which created 210 jobs, is expected to advance the search for solutions to the biggest challenges ahead of the automotive industry. Hungarian taxpayers contributed to the investment cost with HUF 7.8 billion, some 22%, through a government decision.
The base in Zalaegerszeg now produces brake systems, steering electronics, complex battery controls and computers for autonomous vehicles. Many of those products were designed by local engineers.
Production lines in Zalaegerszeg have orders tying up capacity for 5-7 years, with revenue set to reach an annual USD 220 million. Hungarian suppliers had delivered around USD 30 million of the USD 100 million investment value.
