Goodwill Pharma Plc. is investing more than HUF 3.5 billion in capacity expansion in Szeged with EU support. The company, which manufactures and distributes dietary supplements and pharmaceuticals, has received HUF 1.766 billion in conditional reimbursable funding from the Hungarian Multi Program (MMP) of the Economic Development and Innovation Operational Program plus (Ginop plus).
The aid will be used to expand their wholesale warehouse, convert the current headquarters into a multifunctional building to house new production technologies, build a new headquarters and start the implementation of a corporate management system. The project is in line with MMP's mission to create globally competitive Hungarian companies in the global market, the financial website portfolio.hu reports.
Goodwill Pharma has grown from a family business into a large company, but in order to keep this development dynamic and become a visible player in international markets, the company's stock market listing last year was an essential step. "We submitted our application for the Hungarian Multi Program as a limited liability company and have since become a listed company. With the award of the grant money, our processes have been given a new impetus, which not only has a positive impact on us, but also on the domestic pharmaceutical industry and trade. It also gives us the opportunity to become a player not only regionally, but also globally, and to produce for export," Dr. Ferenc Jójárt, owner and CEO of the company, said at a press event in Szeged.
The scale of the investment is illustrated by the fact that it is taking place in three parallel locations, with the construction of the regional center and the structural renovation of the old education building already underway. The capacity of the specialized wholesale warehouse, which can also be refrigerated, will be increased threefold.
One of the most interesting developments of the project is the multifunctional building, which will be able to flexibly adapt to the latest production technologies and will be able to flexibly serve the production needs of the coming years, thus supporting the expansion abroad to a significant extent. The new building will also house the GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) laboratory. The latter will also play a key role in strengthening the pharmaceutical industry in Szeged, with Goodwill Pharma placing even greater emphasis on raising its research and development activities with the University of Szeged to an even higher level.
