The European Commission has launched an infringement procedure against Hungary concerning a levy on phone calls and text messages, the Hungarian news agency MTI learned from unnamed sources.
The source close to the Commission said that the tax which came into force last year may conflict with community law due to the possible state diversion of resources from the telecom sector for developing telecom infrastructure.
