LAFARGE Cement Hungary Ltd. has reached another milestone on its path towards sustainability: from May 1, 2023, it will continue its activities under the Holcim brand name and with a new corporate identity, the company has announced.
According to the statement, the new Holcim brand visually reinforces the company's pioneering role in the circular economy and sustainable construction solutions.
The sustainability target of LAFARGE Cement Hungary Ltd. is to achieve net zero emissions, i.e. net carbon neutrality, at the Királyegyháza Cement Plant by 2050. To this end, it has already implemented environmental investments worth more than HUF 4.5 billion in recent years, as a result of which it is now able to replace almost 90% of fossil fuels with alternative fuels.
In addition to greening its production technology, it is also developing its product portfolio: in autumn 2022, it launched a new innovative green product on the Hungarian market, CEM II/B-LL 32.5 R, ECOPlanet, a cement with the phantom name ECOPlanet. Following the green path, LAFARGE has joined the new identity of the international group, continuing to sell its cement products on the Hungarian market under the Holcim brand from May this year.
The Holcim Group's global goal is total carbon neutrality, the realization of which lies in the circular economy. This inspired the new visual identity, which faithfully reflects the company's values and professional objectives. “The color scheme of the new brand identity symbolizes our natural values, the typeface the boldness of the pioneers, and the shape and the infinity symbol symbolize the infinity of the circular approach,” according to the statement.
"With the new brand and its visual identity, we can further express our commitment to the circular economy to achieve the 2050 carbon neutrality target. As a driver of the circular economy, we will continue to promote recycling and environmental responsibility in all our activities. The new brand also demonstrates our full commitment to the development of a built future with people and the planet at its heart," the Managing Director of LAFARGE Cement Hungary Ltd., Tamás Hoffmann said.
The company's goals, activities and products remain unchanged. The company will continue its environmental awareness campaigns and will continue to provide the Hungarian construction industry with high quality and environmentally friendly cement products, which will be gradually available under the new Holcim brand from May, while keeping the fantasy names used so far (STANDARD, EXPERT, SUPER and ECOPlanet). "With our innovative technology and cement products, we want to continue to embrace environmental thinking and circular economy and build a sustainable future," Tamás Hoffmann added.
