A EUR 200 million investment to set up JYSK’s distribution center in Ecser marks the beginning of a new chapter of the regional presence of the Danish store chain. Hungary’s largest single space logistics hub that can host over 200,000 palettes is set to serve markets of Croatia, Slovakia and Slovenia, and as a result, 300 jobs are created with the perspective of employing more.
The Danish JYSK Group is present in 48 countries with over 3,200 stores and a webshop, and its Hungarian operation has been around since 2004. The site in Ecser now received a major expansion thanks to a EUR 200 million investment. Consequently, the total area of the new facility amounts to 143,000 square meters, and it will be able to receive up to 300 trucks per week in a few months from now.
The storage capacity is equivalent to 209,000 palettes, which makes the place Hungary’s largest single space distribution centre. The newly expanded automated logistics base is set to provide 220 stores with goods in four countries. Since July Croatia became one of those destinations, whereas Slovenia and Slovakia were up next in line in the fall.
Workers in Ecser are mainly tasked with putting together products for the stores, but an increasingly big number of employees is involved in handling online orders.
