Metrinox has inaugurated a manufacturing plant in Szerencs (NE Hungary) which will produce smart gas and electricity meters in the future.
Metrinox CEO Zoltán Jászberényi stated in his address that the plant currently employs ten people, but they aim to increase this number to 50 by the end of the year. He emphasized that, in the first phase, they will focus on calibrating and repairing residential natural gas meters.
He added that there are 3.2 million residential natural gas meters installed in Hungary, of which between 10% and 12% require repair, verification, and recalibration annually.
According to the information provided, the second phase, in collaboration with an international partner, involves implementing smart natural gas metering. The first few hundred smart meters, based on the world's most advanced ultrasonic technology, will be installed in homes in Szerencs.

It is a 100% Hungarian-owned company, created in 2024 with the collaboration of national investors with the aim of creating, by starting up the metering division, a production and development base in Hungary that covers the entire value chain of modern natural gas and electricity meters, from manufacturing to certification and innovation.
