Hungarian oil and gas group MOL has announced that it has successfully closed its previously announced North Sea acquisition, adding that the region was a "very attractive area", the Hungarian financial website, portfolio.hu reports.
A statement by MOL said on Tuesday that it had closed the previously announced deal with Wintershall Norge AS for acquiring the shareholding interest of Wintershall’s UK North Sea basin off-shore assets in 14 licences.
MOL Group has also recently opened an office in Aberdeen to support its operations and its future expansion in the region. "The North Sea is a very attractive area, and MOL will continue to develop its presence in the region. We intend to take part in upcoming licensing bid rounds and aim to become operators ourselves," - Alexander Dodds, MOL Group Executive Vice President for E&P was quoted by portfolio.hu as saying.
