The Hungarian medical device manufacturing sector sees further reinforcement through Karsai Alba Ltd.'s latest investment. As part of an EUR 10.86 million project, the fully Hungarian-owned company based in Székesfehérvár inaugurated a 2,100-square-meter, fully automated and robot-equipped facility this Monday, the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency reports.
The plant, specialized in manufacturing single-use laboratory and medical devices, has achieved ISO 13485 certification and is registered in the EUDAMED (European Database on Medical Devices), officially qualifying Karsai Alba Ltd. to manufacture medical devices for the EU market.
Karsai Holding Plc., based in Székesfehérvár and encompassing nine subsidiaries, is one of the leading players in Hungary’s plastics industry. The group’s product portfolio spans from simple plastic flowerpots to thousands of items, including automotive parts and packaging solutions.
A part of the holding, Karsai Alba Ltd., brings 25 years of experience in plastic manufacturing. Known for its high-quality products, the company supplies the cosmetics, pharmaceutical, and food industries with packaging solutions for creams, effervescent tablets, and other health supplements. In 2020, the company established its medical and laboratory technology division, making it the only Hungarian firm producing pipette tips for both domestic and export demands.
Today’s investment further enhances the company's medical and laboratory technology division. The nearly EUR 11 million project includes a 2,100-square-meter, automated, robot-equipped facility where new laboratory and medical technology products will be manufactured. With this division, the company aims to supply Hungarian laboratories, hospitals, healthcare institutions, and pharmaceutical companies with single-use devices. Additionally, the development has officially certified Karsai Alba Ltd. to manufacture medical devices for the EU market.
The investment is expected to create 37 new jobs at Karsai Alba Ltd. in Székesfehérvár.
