Hungarian bus and truck manufacturer Rába has received another order from Sweden's Vinga Bus for five S91 buses, thanks to positive feedback on quality and operability on earlier exports to Sweden, Rába said in a stock exchange statement.
Currently, the S91 is the only successful homegrown model by a Hungarian manufacturer that has been successful and in demand from export markets, the statement claimed. Rába is delivering the order in early 2014, followed by maintenance and parts supply support on a continuing basis. The five environment friendly biodiesel buses for the Scandinavian partner will be mostly used as school buses.
At the end of September this year, Rába announced that it won another tender in cooperation with Volvo, this time to supply five articulated buses to Tüke Busz, a public transport operator in Pécs, southern Hungary. As the financial website portfolio.hu views the issue, the new order improves Rába's capacity utilization as well as adding a new reference.
The news came hot on the heels of another report according to which Rába has been selected to supply 61 articulated buses to Hungary's national long-distance operator Volánbusz in a contract worth EUR 16 million. Rába bid in cooperation with Volvo in a public procurement tender. Delivery is due in early 2014. The announcement marked the first result of the Rába/Volvo cooperation, as part of which Rába is expecting to deliver 200 to 300 buses per year.
