After the forced spring shutdowns, production in Hungarian car factories will be suspended again, but it is important to emphasize that the coronavirus epidemic has nothing to do with it, the financial website portfolio.hu writes.

Only the usual planned shutdowns will take place in the summer, used by the companies for maintenance and conversion work.
The unexpected appearance and rapid spread of the coronavirus has put the global automotive industry in a very difficult position, with leading automakers and their suppliers temporarily suspending their production worldwide. The major downtime has also hit Europe painfully, where the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA) estimates production stoppage time to be an average of 30 days, resulting in more than 2.4 million drops in car production.

At the vehicle factory of Audi Hungaria in Győr stopped in the 30th calendar week (i.e. this week) as part of the usual annual summer shutdown. During this time reconstruction and maintenance works are underway at the Győr plant.

The Mercedes-Benz plant in Kecskemét will have only one short, pre-planned break this summer. Taking advantage of the long weekend around the national holiday on August 20, production will be suspended for a short period between August 17 and 23, 2020. With this decision, the company takes into account the needs of the employees, and maintenance work is carried out on these days.

Magyar Suzuki Co. Ltd. will carry out its usual pre-planned annual shutdown this summer, from August 10 to 21. During these two weeks, maintenance and development work will take place at the company.
