The toy market is also boosted by Easter, with families with young children usually buying between HUF 5,000 and HUF 10,000, REGIO Toytrade Ltd. told MTI on Wednesday.
According to their survey, 69% of parents buy toys on the eve of the first family holiday of the year, with only sweets being more popular at 81%. 42% buy books and a third of families plan to travel domestically during the festive period, they said.
Creative toys and Lego sets lead the demand rankings with 40-40%, followed by board games, plush toys and coloring books, according to the feedback. Outdoor products are also in high demand, as Easter is the turning point for seasonal supply, with sales of garden toys and sports equipment starting to pick up, they added.
The survey also asked about Easter traditions, revealing that six out of ten boys go watering. The reward is almost half sweets, with a quarter of girl-headed households giving money, but the tradition of the deviled egg is not lost. Parents of girls say that most of the children are happy to receive the water sprinklers," the statement said.
3,141 parents, all of them with children under 14, took part in the REGIO Play survey. The survey was conducted between March 28 and April 6.
