Sygnus Kereskedelmi Kft. [Trade Ltd.], a grain trading company, is expanding its loading capacity at its Paks port on the Danube with a HUF 300 million development, the company told the state news agency MTI.
The HUF 343 million technological development will be implemented with the HUF 240 million support of the Economic Development and Innovation Operational Program Plus, they said.
The company is buying two Merlo-type telescopic handlers, a front-end loader, a bridge scale and an industrial rubber wheel transloader; the new equipment will significantly increase the unloading capacity at the port, enabling it to provide logistical support for investments in and around Paks, they added.
The project, which will be completed on August 31, 2023, will also include the installation of 10.64 kilowatts of peak power solar panels.
According to the company, 104,000 tons of goods were unloaded and 74,000 tons loaded at the 6,000-ton capacity port this year, mostly grain, fertilizer and stone.
The Szekszárd-based company, founded in 1993, achieved a net turnover of HUF 15.9 billion in 2021, with a net profit after tax of HUF 379 million. According to Managing Director Tamás Németh, this year's turnover will be close to HUF 20 billion, and the development is expected to generate a 5-15% increase in turnover.
