IKEA launched the ‘Shop & Go’ service in all three of its Budapest stores in August, allowing shoppers to scan the items in their shopping cart on their mobile phones using the IKEA app, and then scan the QR code to pay at the express checkout, according to a company statement published by the financial news site portfolio.hu.
The app allows shoppers to scan products directly during the shopping process and then scan the QR code in the app to pay at the counter, which the company expects will significantly reduce the time spent at the checkout.
The first step is for visitors to scan the products they have selected, place them in a specially designed shopping bag or basket and then pay by scanning the QR code in the IKEA app without unloading the products.
