JYSK's sales revenue in Hungary increased by 19% to HUF 67.6 billion in the financial year from September 2021 to August 2022, while its EBIT for the whole company amounted to HUF 12.49 billion, an increase of 0.4%, the home furnishing chain informed the state news agency MTI on Tuesday.
The turnover of the trading business amounted to 66.5 billion forints, with a pre-tax result of 14.79 billion forints, an increase of about 18% compared to the previous financial year.
According to the release, JYSK opened 3 new stores and renovated 16 stores in Hungary in the 2021-22 financial year, 1 relocated and 2 expanded. In 2022-23, 5 stores are planned to open and a further 23 stores will be renovated, expanded or relocated.
In the 2021-22 financial year, JYSK's logistics center in Ecser, just outside Budapest, started operations, from where it now serves 220 units, 91 stores in Hungary and online orders, as well as 53 Croatian, 50 Slovakian and 25 Slovenian stores. More than 700 different types of products are in stock, but the number is growing steadily, and the number of employees here is set to rise from the current 200 to 300 by spring 2023, Sándor Szimeiszter, JYSK's country manager for Hungary, said in a statement.
The company also reported that online orders accounted for more than 10% of purchases in Hungary, with online shoppers spending on average almost four times as much as in-store shoppers on a single occasion.
The company has more than 1,000 employees and 91 stores in Hungary.
JYSK is an international home furnishing chain with Scandinavian roots, 30,000 employees, more than 3,200 stores and webshops in 48 countries.
