In May, Suzuki again registered the highest number of new passenger cars sold in Hungary: 1,564 vehicles, 13 more than in April. This means that it has gained 14.62% of the market, the business daily Világgazdaság reports.
The newspaper notes that compared to the last two years, the brand had the largest share in May this year, despite the fact that it registered almost 300 cars more in the same month of 2019.
Toyota again came in second place with 1,096 new passenger cars, almost 60 vehicles more than in April, when it also finished second. Ford was again third with 931 cars, 12 fewer than a month earlier. The first five months of the year show a similar picture, with Suzuki leading the way with 14.71% and 7,860 new car registrations, followed by Toyota with 5,138 and Ford with 4,996.
So far this year, the B-SUV category has been the most popular, which is still led by the Suzuki Vitara with a 32.7% share and 3,727 cars. It is followed by the Dacia Duster with 2,264 vehicles.
In May, a total of 10,695 new passenger cars were soled in Hungary, 65% more than a year earlier, but almost 25% fewer than in the same month of 2019.
So far this year, a total of 53,417 passenger cars have been registered in Hungary, and of the five months, March remains the strongest with 124,434 vehicles, while January was the weakest with 8,868. Last year, car sales in Hungary fell by 18.5% compared to a year earlier, with a realistic target of 10-15% percent growth this year, according to industry forecasts.
