Retail Sales Rise 2.5% in November

Retail sales in Hungary rose 2.5% year-on-year in November, MTI quotes data released by the Central Statistical Office (KSH) on Friday. Retail sales also rose 2.5% when adjusted for calendar year effects.

Adjusted food sales increased 2.6%, non-food sales climbed 4.6% and vehicle fuel sales edged up 0.7%. Online and mail-order sales volume, which accounted for 11% of retail turnover, rose 12%.

In a month-on-month comparison, retail sales inched up 0.1%, adjusted for seasonal and calendar year effects.

In absolute terms, retail sales came to HUF 1,747 billion in November. Food sales accounted for 47% of the total, non-food sales for 39% and sales at petrol stations for 14%.

For the period January-November, retail sales rose an adjusted 2.8% and an unadjusted 2.6% from the same period a year earlier. Food sales increased an adjusted 2.6%, non-food sales 4.4% and motor fuel sales 0.7%.
