Retail sales in Hungary rose 4.9% year-on-year in July, data released by the Central Statistical Office (KSH) on Friday show.
Retail sales rose at the same pace when adjusted for calendar year effects.
Adjusted food sales increased 2.2%, non-food sales rose 6.5% and turnover at petrol stations climbed 8.1%.
Online and mail-order sales volume, which accounted for 8.4% of retail turnover, increased 8.9%.
In a month-on-month comparison, retail sales were up 1.0%, adjusted for seasonal and calendar year effects.
In absolute terms, retail sales came to HUF 1,815 billion in July. Food sales accounted for 48% of the total, non-food sales for 36% and sales at petrol stations for 16%.
In January-July, retail sales rose an unadjusted 4.6% and an adjusted 4.5%. Food sales increased an adjusted 2.4%, non-food sales rose 5.7% and sales at petrol stations were up 8.2%.
