The eastern Hungarian city's second Interspar store has been built in the vicinity of Debrecen's dynamically developing southern industrial zone; the hypermarket with a floor area of 2,600 square metres was completed with an investment of HUF 3 billion, Spar Hungary told MTI on Thursday.
The new store will meet the needs of both regular commuters and residents of the region, where customers can find not only a wide range of food products, but also electronic goods, clothing, gardening tools and toys, the statement quoted communication manager Márk Maczelka as saying.
The new store, which will employ 66 staff, will also have state-of-the-art lighting and refrigeration, with a focus on environmentally friendly operation. Another special feature of the store among Interspar hypermarkets is that it is the first to install digital price labels, which will eliminate the need for paper price tags, the statement said.
Spar Hungary achieved gross sales of HUF 915.7 billion in 2022, 15.6% more than the previous year. The chain operates more than 620 units, including franchise stores, and employs around 14,000 people. In the last five years, Spar Hungary has spent HUF 149 billion on investments, including HUF 31 billion last year.
