As part of the ongoing restructuring of its international charcuterie activities, the Swiss Bell Food Group is selling its Hungarian production plant to the supermarket chain Spar Hungary.
The sale, confirmed by Spar Hungary to index.hu, of the specialized charcuterie production plant is expected to be completed by October 31, 2020. With almost 200 employees, the facility generated around EUR 20 million in sales revenue every year. With this acquisition, Spar Hungary is not only expanding its production capacity, but is also securing jobs. The parties have agreed to keep the details of the transaction confidential. The transaction is subject to the approval of the national competition authorities.
Along with this sale, another production plant, owned by Bell Food Group in Saint-André-sur-Vieux-Jonc, France, is being sold to the French company Isla Délice. This facility was mainly used for the slicing and packaging of meat products and as a logistics hub.
Following the sale the Perbál plant, the Swiss Bell Food Group will continue to own another Hungarian company, the Eisberg salad factory located in Gyál, just outside Budapest.
