Budapest's annual open-air summer festival of opera, music and dance is staged at two open-air theatres, one on Margaret Island and one in Városmajor Park, on the Buda side of the city, throughout the summer of 2014.
The Margaret Island Open-air Stage is the only permanent open-air stage in Hungary and can accommodate approximately 3000 people. In 2014, the Margaret Island Open-air Stage celebrates its renewing with a varied repertoire that includes Verdi: Aida, Bizet: Carmen (opera), Buena Vista Social Club (concert), Shakespeare Festival: Hamlet - Globe Theater; and much more. Visitors can get to Margaret Island by a special Theater Boat Service before the theater shows, and a standard scheduled boat service operates 5 times a day. Visitors to the island and audience members can enjoy the unique sights of Margaret Island, including the beautifully restored Water Tower and the Saint Margaret Ruins as well as the monument of the Premontre Monastery.
