In a message from Los Angeles, Juliet Rózsa, the daughter of the three-time Academy Award winner composer of Hungarian origin, Miklós Rózsa, expressed her appreciation for the Hungarian Hollywood Council's mission to preserve her father's memory and keep his musical legacy alive.
The Council's recent wreath-laying ceremony at the memorial plaque of Miklós Rózsa in Nagylóc, NE of Budapest, organized jointly with the Nagylóc Municipality and the local Village Protection Association to mark the 115th birth anniversary of the world-renowned artist, was attended by many well-known personalities from the film industry, where the message of the world-famous composer's daughter was read out, according to a statement by the Hungarian Hollywood Council (HHC).
In 2016, the Council, together with a Los Angeles NGO, unveiled a plaque commemorating Rózsa's childhood years in Nagylóc and since then has held annual commemorations, roundtable conferences, lectures, screenings and concerts there and in Budapest.
The Council has declared April 18, the composer's birthday, as Miklós Rózsa Memorial Day. At one of the highly successful events before the pandemic, renowned Hungarian pianist Béla Szakcsi Lakatos, gave a unique improvisation concert based on Rózsa's works.
HHC President Balázs Bokor expressed his gratitude for Juliet Rózsa's message. The Hungarian Hollywood Council will continue its efforts to nurture the Hungarian roots of Hollywood and to carry on the legacy of Miklós Rózsa.
