The Hungarian Open Air Museum ('Skanzen') reopened in Szentendre, north of Budapest this Saturday. For the time being, the museum is only accessible with a walking ticket in accordance with epidemiological and distance keeping rules.
During the usual opening hours, from 9 am to 5 pm on Tuesday to Sunday, visitors to the ethnographic museum can walk through the landscapes, streets, between buildings, courtyards, gates, and relax in the museum’s 60-acre park. From Saturday, the museum's shops and restaurants are also open, and bicycles, carts and scooters can be rented in the entrance building. Other buildings are closed for the time being, but some of the interiors are available to view.
Visitors can only enter the Skanzen in compliance with epidemiological and distance keeping rules. It is obligatory to keep a distance of one and a half meters between people who do not live in the same household, and to enter an enclosed space only with a protective mask. For security reasons, online ticket purchases are recommended and the number of entrants to enclosed spaces (entrance building, washroom) is maximized. The museum staff will regularly disinfect and clean the washrooms.
The museum does not accept pre-announced visitor groups and events are not expected to be held there until August 15th.
