Two new Polish films and six VR films will be screened at the 29th Polish Film Spring (Lengyel Filmtavasz) from May 2 to 5 at the Polish Institute and Uránia National Film Theater in Budapest.
According to a press release sent to MTI by the Polish Institute, this year's festival will be held under the motto ‘Differently’, which suggests that this year's film must-see will be a little different from previous ones.
The festival program will include a screening of Jerzy Skolimowski's Oscar-nominated film drama ‘The Touching Story of a Kindly Donkey’ on May 4 at the Uránia cinema.
On May 5, the Polish Institute cinema will screen Paweł Matuszyński's true story drama ‘No Traces Left Behind’, which debuted in the competition program of the Venice International Film Festival and was Poland's nominee for the 2022 Academy Award. The film tells the tragic story of Grzegorz Przemyk, a 19-year-old high school graduate from Warsaw who was beaten to death by members of the communist militia 40 years ago.
The films will be shown in the original language with Hungarian subtitles.
Six VR films will also be screened from May 2 in the Virtual Historical Theater (Wirtualny Teatr Historii), each of which invites you to a unique and exciting journey through time. Thanks to virtual reality technology, the viewer is placed at the center of events that go back decades, and can experience the adventures of the characters almost up close.
The VR films are available in Polish or English at the Polish Institute. The screenings are free of charge and no registration is required, the announcement says.
