The first Hungarian Lynx air defense weapon has been completed at the Zalaegerszeg plant in south-western Hungary, the Ministry of Defense said in a statement sent to MTI.
They recalled their information on Thursday that according to their latest agreement with their strategic partner Rheinmetall, they are developing an air defence system for the Hungarian Defense Forces based on the Lynx KF-41.
Low-flying, small-sized drones and active defence against conventional airborne targets are now essential for the effective deployment of armoured capabilities, a statement stressed.
They added that on Saturday, another historic milestone was reached in the development of the armed forces, as the first Hungarian-built Lynx rolled off the assembly line of the Zalaegerszeg factory.
The statement said that the Hungarian Lynxes are 8.49 metres long, 3.8 metres wide and 3.73 metres high, depending on the body mounted on the vehicle. The Lynx is powered by a 6-cylinder, 1,463 hp Liebherr D9612 turbo diesel engine and is "the most modern, state-of-the-art infantry fighting vehicle of our time, which is considered to be a worthy reflection of the cultural change that has begun in the armed forces."
