Diplomacy & Trade has learned with great sorrow that the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Hungary, Dr. Ashraf Mohsen Mohamed Mohsen has passed awayat the age of 50. He served his country in Budapest since March 2012.
The Presidium of the African-Hungarian Union expressed “its profound sorrow by the occasion of the death of H.E. Dr. Ashraf Mohsen Mohamed Mohsen” who was “a sincere friend of Hungary and worked for the development of the Egyptian-Hungarian political, economic and human relationship.”
The Israeli ambassador to Hungary, Ilan Mor said that “since his arrival in Budapest, Ashraf has been a good friend to me and to Israel. He participated in all of our activities, including those related to the Holocaust. He showed his solidarity with the Jewish community in Hungary.”
He added that “Ashraf was also a big supporter of the longstanding peace which exists between Israel and Egypt, and used to talk with much nostalgia about his diplomatic service in Israel, as the Deputy Ambassador of Egypt to Israel for four years.”
