The National Development Ministry says the UN Climate Conference in Cancún, Mexico, has ended successfully, with the participating states approving a balanced package of resolutions that pave the way for a global convention on climate change.
"Judging from the Copenhagen Climate Summit, neither the participants, nor the public expected too much from the Cancun Conference, which then still ended with the approval of a balanced package of resolutions," State Secretary of Green Development and Climate Policy and Hungarian delegation head Péter Olajos said.
The package will have a big impact on Hungary's forthcoming EU presidency, which will coordinate developing a uniform EU position on several issues that have been left open, he said.
