Hungarian manifesto regarding Libya

The Hungarian government has issued a manifesto welcoming the resolution of the United Nations Security Council, passed on March 17, that aims at putting an end to aggression against the civil population in Libya.

As the manifesto states, with this step all the conditions set by the European Union earlier were met.

The Hungarian government’s primary concern is the threat to the life and property of the civil population. The Hungarian government call for colonel Gaddafi – who is held responsible for starting a wave of violence – to order his forces to stop and leave the political arena. Pursuant to the Hungarian government, Libyans should be given the choice of deciding upon their future within the frames of peaceful negotiations.

The fact that the international community was supported by the Arab world at the elaboration of the resolution are considered in favorable light. ‘We urge coordinated steps with the involvement of the key players, the United Nations, the European Union, NATO and the Arab League’, the manifesto states. The Hungarian government is ready to use all means at her disposal to support the international community to restore peace and order in Libya.
