The Office of the Hungarian President has announced that President János Áder, similarly to other European leaders, will stay away from the Russian Victory Day parade celebrating the 70th anniversary of the defeat of Nazi Germany on May 9 in Moscow.
Although, the Hungarian President was invited to Moscow by Vladimir Putin himself during the Russian President’s visit to Budapest in February, János Áder has decided in line with EU recommendations to stay away from the celebration. The presidential communiqué also states that Hungary will be represented at the parade by the Hungarian ambassador accredited to Moscow.
