Independence Day of Colombia: Budapest Celebrations

On the occasion of the 212th anniversary of the Independence Day of Colombia on July 20th, the Embassy of the Republic of Colombia in Budapest, with the support of the Mayor’s Office of Budapest and the BDK Budapest Flood and Public Lighting Ltd., achieved to illuminate the emblematic Fishermen’s Bastion, part of the complex of the Royal Castle on Buda Hill, in the colours of Colombian national flag. This point is the most visible part of the city from the Danube and from the Pest side.

Two events were organized on this occasion. The first took place on July 20th for the Colombian community living in Hungary, at the City Park Ice Rink in Városliget Park, with the support of the Budapest Sports Service Provider, with the participation of about 200 Colombian nationals and special guests.

The second one was hosted on July 21 in the night, consisting of a boat trip on the Danube to see the beautiful illumination of the Fisherman's Bastion. This event was attended by Ambassadors and members of the Diplomatic Corps, accredited in Hungary, senior government officials, and representatives of the business, cultural and academic circles, among others.
