Olympic champions, politicians, television personalities will be active participants in this Sunday’s marathon and half marathon relay race in Budapest – an official Hungarian EU presidency event.
There will be three relay competitions at the Parliament on Kossuth Square in Budapest: the marathon race can be run by six-member teams and the half-marathon by three-member teams, and there will also be a 3 times 2011-meter program. The half marathon distance can be completed by individuals.
The classic, 42,195-kilometer distance will be run by three Hungarian Olympic champions, Botond Storcz (kayak), István Kovacs (boxing) and Attila Vajda (canoe) is, along with the country’s top football referee, Viktor Kassai, and two television presenters. There will be two more Olympic gold medalists in the event: Zoltán Kammerer (kayak) and Ferenc Novák (canoe).
In the framework of the EU Presidency Eun, relay teams from the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be competing against German, French, Spanish, Slovenian, Romanian and Dutch teams.
