Visa-free entry for Hungarians to Thailand

August 5, 2011

According to a decision earlier this year by the Thai government, as of 11 August onwards, Hungarian citizens are exempt from visa requirement, if they travel to Thailand as tourists and stay not longer than thirty days.

A press release by the Hungarian Foreign Ministry says that for travelers who do not enter Thailand through an airport border crossing point are allowed to stay for fifteen days there without a visa.

The visa waiver program, which applies not only to Hungarians, but also to Polish, Czech, Slovak, Slovenian citizens, as well as to the nationals of Liechtenstein, was decided upon by the Thai government on May 3 this year.

For tourist travels of more than thirty days or for travels of non-tourist purposes, visa is still required. It can be obtained at the Thailand Embassy in Budapest.
