BUX Index Rose to a Peak This Week Amid Falling Turnover

The Budapest Stock Exchange (BSE) share index, the BUX, closed the week at a historic high of 69,879.43 points, up 2.91% on Friday, MTI reported this Sunday morning.

The total turnover of the stock market decreased from HUF 93.818 billion to HUF 50.213 billion on a weekly basis. The leading shares rose during the week.

In its weekly summary, Equilor Befektetési Zrt. highlighted that Moody's Hungary's debt rating remained unchanged. The rating agency said last Friday that it affirmed its Baa2 rating with a stable outlook.

Richter's dividend coupon has been cut: as of Wednesday, the stock is trading without a dividend coupon. The pharmaceutical company will pay HUF 432 per share, with the payout starting on June 13.

OTP continued to buy back its own shares, buying 19,000 shares in Monday's trading, 52,684 on Tuesday, 36,023 on Wednesday and 30,000 on Thursday.

It was recalled that the MVM group bought shares in a gas field in Azerbaijan. The purchase of a 5% stake in the Shah Deniz gas field will be completed in the third quarter.

The analysis also mentioned the purchase of Budapest’s Ferenc Liszt International Airport by the Hungarian state. Under the contract signed on June 6, the state-owned Corvinus International Investment Ltd. will acquire an 80% stake in the airport for EUR 3.5 billion, while France's VINCI Airports will acquire a 20% stake. A deal was also successfully reached with the consortium of the airport's creditors, who agreed to extend a EUR 1.44 billion loan taken out by the previous owners, Equilor said.

Magyar Telekom closed the week with the biggest rise of 4.48% at HUF 1,026 on turnover of HUF 3.018 billion.

OTP rose by 0.58% to HUF 100, to HUF 17,410, with a total turnover of more than HUF 25.3 billion.

Mol closed Friday at HUF 2,840, up 1.79% or HUF 50, with a total turnover of HUF 7.134 billion.

Richter rose by 4.12%, or HUF 375, to close the week at HUF 9,475. The pharmaceutical company's shares had a total turnover of HUF 12.260 billion.

The BUMIX index of small and medium-sized shares closed at 6,223.98 points, 0.20% lower than last Friday at 12.40 points.
