The Budapest Stock Exchange (BSE) share index weakened slightly this week, with the BUX closing at 56,314.97 points on Friday, 0.04%, 23.53 points lower than a week earlier, MTI reported on Sunday morning along with a brief analysis.
In the four-day trading week, the turnover of the stock market was HUF 35.84 billion, down from HUF 47.31 billion the previous week, with the leading shares, with the exception of OTP, weakening.
After an uneventful trading session on Tuesday, the BUX closed down 315.88 points, or 0.56%, at 56,022.62 points.
On Wednesday, OTP's outstanding performance pulled the stock index higher, and the positive sentiment spread to other leading stocks, with the BUX ending the day up 886.68 points, or 1.58%, at 56,909.30.
On Thursday, the Hungarian stock market was in negative territory for most of the day, along with the international markets. There was no specific Hungarian corporate news, and the weaker performance of the domestic stock index was influenced by international sentiment, with the BUX closing down 315.07 points, or 0.55%, at 56,594.23.
On Friday, the BUX turned negative at the end of trading, dragged down by unfavorable sentiment in European and global equity markets, ending the last trading day of the week with a decline of 279.26 points, or 0.49%.
OTP's share price rose by 2.34% this week, ending Friday's trading at HUF 13,530, with a weekly turnover of more than HUF 19.7 billion.
The price of Mol fell by 0.90%, closing Friday at HUF 2874, with a weekly turnover of HUF 4.41 billion.
Magyar Telekom weakened by 1.93% this week, closing at HUF 559 on Friday, with a weekly turnover of HUF 750 million.
The share price of Richter fell by 2.82%, closing at HUF 8600 on Friday, with a weekly turnover of almost HUF 7 billion.
The BUMIX index of small and medium-sized shares closed the week at 4,945.28 points, up 28.16 points or 0.57% on the previous week.
