Construction Output Volume Increases in Hungary

The volume of construction output, based on raw data, was 20.3% higher in June 2019 than a year earlier, Hungary's Central Statistical Office reports. The volume of output increased in both main groups of construction: in the construction of buildings by 23.5%, in civil engineering works by 16.5%. Based on seasonally and working day adjusted indices, construction output increased by 1.7% compared to the May data. In the second quarter construction producer prices increased by 10.2% compared to the same period of the previous year.

In June 2019, compared to the same month of the previous year:

The volume of output increased in both main groups of construction: in the construction of buildings by 23.5%, in civil engineering works by 16.5%. In the construction of buildings, the increase was due to industrial and warehouse constructions; in civil engineering projects, road, railway and utility constructions generated the growth.

Out of the divisions of construction, output volume increased by 20.3% in the construction of buildings, by 15.6% in civil engineering, and in specialised construction activities by 23.5%.

The volume of new contracts increased by 0.9%, within this the volume of new contracts concluded in the construction of buildings went up by 27.4%, in the construction of civil engineering works the volume lessened by 12.6% year-on-year.

The volume of the June month-end stock of contracts at construction enterprises decreased by 11.2% year-on-year. The stock of contracts volume increased by 31.7% for the construction of buildings and went down by 21.2% for the construction of civil engineering works compared to the end of June 2018 data.
