Hungary had a EUR 665 million external trade surplus in February, data released by the Central Statistics Office (KSH) on Monday show.
Exports rose 2.6% year-on-year to EUR 12.695 billion. Imports climbed 5.9% to EUR 12.030 billion.
Trade with other European Union member states accounted for 74% of Hungary's exports and 67% of its imports during the month.
Hungary's export volume to the rest of the world increased 1.8%, while import volume from those countries rose 18%. Hungary's trade deficit with non-EU countries widened to EUR 614 million.
Hungary's terms of trade improved 5.9% during the period as the forint strengthened 6.1% against the euro and 17% to the US dollar.
For January-February, Hungary had a trade surplus of EUR 957 million. Exports increased 0.3% to EUR 24.451 billion and imports rose 4.0% to EUR 23.494 billion.
