Hungary had a EUR 924 million trade surplus in March, data released by the Central Statistical Office (KSH) show.
Exports rose 3.6% year-on-year to EUR 14.045 billion. Imports climbed 10.6% to EUR 13.121 billion.
Trade with other European Union member states accounted for 76% of Hungary's exports and 69% of its imports during the month.
Hungary's export volume to the rest of the world decreased 19.2%, while import volume from those countries fell 8.7%. Hungary's trade deficit with non-EU countries widened to EUR 672 million.
Hungary's terms of trade improved 3.5% during the period as the Hungarian currency, the forint strengthened 2.7% against the euro and 9.0% to the US dollar.
For January-March, Hungary had a trade surplus of EUR 2.209 billion. Exports increased 2.4% to EUR 38.839 billion and imports rose 6.3% to EUR 36.630 billion.
