The official Hungarian Gazette has published a government resolution according to which the cabinet spends an extra HUF 2.4 billion on the deployment of another 30,000 bank card acceptance points as promised earlier.
As portfolio.hu reports, banks undertook to deploy 30,200 POS (point-of-sale) terminals this year, for whcih they were given HUF 2.4 billion by the state. In return, retailers pay lower rates while the banks can benefit from a larger number of card transactions.
A bankoktól több visszajelzés érkezett arról, hogy a program népszerûsége miatt a vállalt keretüket a vártnál gyorsabban ki fogják meríteni. Ezért döntöttek arról, hogy újabb 2,4 milliárd forinttal bõvítik a programot. Az összes támogatott terminál kihelyezésével másfél év alatt mintegy 60 százalékkal nõhet a POS-terminálok száma a boltokban.
More and more feedback came from the banks that because of the popularity of the program, they will be able to absorb their committed framework faster than expected. That's why the government decided to add another HUF 2.4 billion forints to the program. By placing all supported terminals, the number of POS terminals in stores can increase by about 60% in one and a half years.
