In February 2025, the average number of employed persons aged 15–74 was 4,682,000, essentially the same as a year earlier, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) reports.
The number of unemployed persons was 220,000 and the unemployment rate 4.5%, the report says.
Employment, December 2024-February 2025:
In the period December 2024-February 2025, the average number of employed persons aged 15-74 was 4,689,000. The number of employed persons was practically the same for both sexes as a year earlier, with 2,487,000 males and 2,202,000 females.
There were 4,526,000 people working in the domestic primary labour market, while the number of public workers was 62,000 and those working abroad totaled 101,000.
The employment rate for people aged 15-64 was 75.0%. While the employment rate for males remained essentially unchanged2 at 78.7%, for females it rose by 0.5 percentage points to 71.3%.
Unemployment, December 2024–February 2025:
In the period December 2024–February 2025, the number of unemployed people aged 15–74 was 214,000, 16,000 fewer than a year earlier, while the rate decreased slightly to 4.4%.
The number of unemployed was 116,000 for males and 98,000 for females, with an unemployment rate of 4.5% for the former and 4.2% for the latter. The rate was 0.3 percentage points lower for men and 0.4 percentage points lower for women than a year ago.
The average duration of job search was 12.6 months. 41.5% of all unemployed had been looking for a job for less than 3 months, while 36.9% had not found a job for at least a year.
According to the administrative data of the National Employment Service, the number of registered job seekers at the end of February 2025 decreased by 1.3% to 232,000 compared to a year earlier.
