The BUX Hit a Record High This Week

The Budapest Stock Exchange’s stock index (BUX) rose to a new all-time high this week. The BUX closed at 152,518.27 points on Friday, marking a 3.23% weekly gain, while weekly trading volume fell short of the previous week’s level. Among the leading stocks, Mol performed the best, with its share price rising 8.64% and also setting a new record. OTP also gained significantly, while the share prices of Richter and Magyar Telekom declined.

Amid declining trading volume, the Budapest Stock Exchange (BÉT) stock index rose this week; on Friday, the BUX closed at 152,518.27 points, a historic high, up 3.23% or 4,770.36 points from the previous week.

Weekly trading volume totaled HUF 98.7 billion, down from HUF 129.5 billion the previous week, with leading stocks posting mixed results.

Among the leading stocks this week, Mol’s share price rose the most, by 8.64%, closing at HUF 5,380 on Friday, with weekly trading volume exceeding HUF 30.40 billion.

OTP’s share price rose 4.58% during the week; the stock closed at HUF 47,000 on Friday, with weekly trading volume totaling more than HUF 52.79 billion.

Richter’s share price fell 2.26% during the week; its closing price on Friday was HUF 12,530, with weekly trading volume of HUF 9.27 billion.

Magyar Telekom’s share price fell 2.9% during the week; the stock closed at HUF 2,548 on Friday, with weekly trading volume of HUF 3.88 billion.

The BUMIX index, which tracks small- and mid-cap stocks, fell 2.2% or 207.67 points, closing the week at 9,236.83 points.
