According to Randstad's latest Workmonitor survey of 35,000 workers in 34 markets, the dynamics between workers and employers have changed and workers are becoming more aware — especially those under 35. One of the 34 markets surveyed is Hungary.

Highlighting the Randstad Workmonitor 2022 H1 study, CEO and Chair of the Executive Board at Randstad N.V. Sander van ‘t Noordende said that "our survey of 35,000 employees across 34 markets — one of the largest studies of its kind in the world — shows that the strongest sentiments around aligning work with personal goals are harbored by the youngest respondents. Opinions diverged across age groups on issues such as job flexibility, work life balance, personal and professional growth and corporate social responsibilities."

As for what Hungarians say in the survey, and how that compares to global data, here are some of the most interesting findings:

  • 45% say current job provides flexibility in terms of hours (60% globally)
  • 39% would choose not to work at all, if money was no object (48% globally)
  • 19% wouldn’t mind earning less money if the job was contributing something to society (34% globally)
  • 45% have received a pay raise (36% globally)
  • 87% consider flexibility in terms of working hours to be important (83% globally)
  • 64% want to earn more money (60% globally)
  • 56% want to develop in current role (53% globally)
