According to an international survey, Hungarians are more in favor of the transition to green energy, including solar power plants and wind farms, than the European average, and this is also true when it comes to renewable power plants near their homes/gardens, the financila newssite portfolio.hu reports.
However, the answers to the question on the distance at which solar and wind farms are considered to be close to home nuances the results.
Attitudes towards the transition to green energy in Europe are generally positive, with an average of 66% of citizens in 26 European countries, including Hungary, saying they are in favor of the process, according to a survey conducted in November by the Danish polling agency Norstat. The representative survey of around a thousand samples per country shows that attitudes towards both wind and solar farms are positive, with more Europeans more positive towards solar farms than wind farms.
However, the research also confirms that fewer people would like to have a wind farm or solar farm near their home/garden, while attitudes towards these energy sources are positive. Perceptions of the two main renewable technologies are not entirely in line in this respect, with more Europeans being more positive about solar farms near their homes than wind farms.
