MVM Démász Transmission Ltd. handed over a modern substation in Soltvadkert, central Hungary, to ensure a secure power supply and to serve the high energy demand of new investments, the company informed MTI on Wednesday.
According to the statement, the MVM group's power grid companies are placing great emphasis on modernizing and expanding the existing 132 high-voltage substations and building new ones. Between 2023 and 2026, MVM Démász and MVM Émász will build new substations in Jászfényszaru, Jászberény, Gyöngyöshalász, Hatvan, Maklar, Miskolc, Mezőkövesd, Szeged and Szentes, as well as upgrading existing ones.
Energy demand in Soltvadkert has increased significantly in recent years, and the existing network infrastructure needed to be upgraded to reliably serve the more than 5,000 customers in the town and the region, as well as the businesses moving into the new industrial park. This is why MVM Démász built a modern 132/22 kV high-voltage substation in the south-east area of Soltvadkert.
The facility was commissioned by MVM Démász Transmission Ltd. and built by MVM Xpert Plc. The project involved the installation of state-of-the-art high and medium-voltage switchgear, which is remotely monitored via modern protection and control systems. This guarantees the possibility of rapid intervention to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the substation.
The Soltvadkert substation, in addition to meeting new consumer needs, will enable the grid to serve the increased demand for solar power from residential customers and businesses, and the connection of solar power plants to the electricity grid will help to provide access to clean, climate-friendly energy and a more secure energy supply, the statement said.
