The Austrian multinational integrated oil, gas and petrochemical company OMV has installed new electric chargers – one on the Buda side of the Hungarian capital and one in the northwestern part of the city of Szeged in SE Hungary. The devices are ultra-fast chargers with a total capacity of 250 kilowatts (kW), with two charging sockets available for motorists, the company informed MTI.
The two charging sockets are capable of delivering 150 kW each, but when two electric vehicles are charging at the same time, this is limited to 120-120 kW.
The new chargers at the Balatonlelle and Keszthely gas stations, both at Lake Balaton, will also be installed in the coming days, they said.
OMV said in a statement that it is continuously investing in sustainable technologies and the promotion of e-mobility in Hungary. It was recalled that by November 2025, 28 additional OMV charging points with a capacity of at least 150 kW each will be installed at seven OMV charging stations located along busy Hungarian motorways, in a multi-country project co-financed by the European Union, for a total development cost of EUR 2.1 million.
OMV Hungária Ltd. operates 201 gas stations in Hungary, directly employs 60 people and has around 1,700 people employed in its network of gas stations.
